Diversity and Inclusion Task Force

Launched by the Board in 2020 and chaired by Dr Sheetal Chavda with Emma Persand as vice chair. It has:

• Launched a SOM Statement of Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion here.
• Produced an Inclusion Directory.
• Carried out unconscious bias training for SOM Board members.
• Contributed to this factsheet.
• Presented on inclusion to SOM Regional Groups - presentation here and at webinars and national conferences. SOM's Podcast series has an episode dedicated to diversity and inclusion as an occupational health issue.
• Linked with organisations such as the BMA and the King's Fund.
• Carried out a SOM self-assessment to ensure inclusion of our diverse membership in all services and activities.

The Task Force is currently focusing on Women’s Health at Work.
